Hamilton, Bermuda – 15 May 2025: The Paradise Mobile team celebrated their recent Ookla win with a special event at its flagship store on Reid Street today. The award, which was officially won during their visit to Barcelona for the Mobile World Conference in March, has positioned the new network as Bermuda’s Fastest 5G Network by Ookla, the global leader in connectivity intelligence.
The invite-only ceremony was attended by the ever-growing local team along with Paradise Mobile executives, advisors and key stakeholders. The Minister of Home Affairs, The Hon. Alexa Lightbourne, JP, MP, was also in attendance to deliver remarks on this milestone in Bermuda’s journey toward becoming a leading tech-enabled jurisdiction.
‘Today’s celebration marks more than just Paradise Mobile’s success in launching the fastest mobile network on island. It also shows the economic and technological progress that Bermuda has made toward building and equipping our country and its people to have jobs of the future.’ said Minister Lightbourne.
‘When new businesses join Bermuda’s marketplace, their investment in infrastructure is valuable, but what I value even more is their investment in Bermudian talent. They are providing employment, skills development, and real opportunities for our people to develop. Paradise Mobile’s focus on innovation and inclusion is helping to position Bermuda as a global leader in 5G connectivity, while supporting our broader mission to create an accessible and inclusive digital economy that benefits all Bermudians.’
Sam Tabbara, CEO and Co-Founder of Paradise Mobile, shared his thoughts on the milestone: ‘Being recognised with Ookla’s Fastest 5G Network award is an incredible honour — not just for our team, but for Bermuda. It’s proof that we’re on the right path.’
‘We’ve already built one of the fastest networks in the world, and we’re just getting started. Our mission is to keep pushing the boundaries until Paradise Mobile - and Bermuda - are known globally as the best and fastest. With speeds already double what we achieved last year, the momentum is real, and the future is even faster.’
